1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

When you use PermitPilot, we collect:

• Business information: Your business type, entity type, state, city, employee count, and any industry details you provide. This is used solely to generate your permit report.
• Email address: To deliver your report and send important communications related to your purchase. We do not subscribe you to marketing lists without explicit consent.
• Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. PermitPilot never sees or stores your full card number, expiry, or CVV. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance.
• Usage data: Standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referrer. We use this for security and to improve the product.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate your AI-powered permit compliance report
• Process your $9.99 one-time payment via Stripe
• Deliver your report to your email address
• Respond to customer support inquiries
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Improve PermitPilot's accuracy and features

4. AI report generation

Reports are generated using Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Your business information (type, location, entity structure) is sent to Anthropic's API to produce your report. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy. We do not send your email address or payment information to Anthropic.

5. Data storage and retention

In the current phase of PermitPilot (Phase 0), report session data is held in memory during report generation and is not persisted to a long-term database. Your email address is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill your order and for legally required record-keeping. We do not build user profiles or track your activity across sessions.

6. Data sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe receives the information necessary to complete your transaction.
• Anthropic: AI report generation. Your business details (not personal identifiers) are sent to generate your permit report.
• Cloudflare: Hosting and CDN infrastructure. Cloudflare may process traffic logs as part of serving the application.
• Law enforcement: Only if required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

7. Cookies and tracking

PermitPilot uses session storage and cookies only as necessary for the application to function (for example, to maintain your report session after payment). We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral analytics cookies.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at hello@startpermit.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents: We do not sell personal information as defined under CCPA.

9. Children

PermitPilot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by email if you have an active account or recent purchase.
