Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

PermitPilot is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Reports are AI-generated informational summaries. Always verify permit requirements with your local government authority or a licensed attorney before relying on them.

1. Agreement to terms

By accessing or using PermitPilot at app.startpermit.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use PermitPilot.

PermitPilot is operated by Laniakea Technologies LLC. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” mean Laniakea Technologies LLC.

2. The service

PermitPilot generates AI-powered permit compliance reports for small businesses in the United States. The service currently includes:

  • One-time permit reports ($9.99): A single comprehensive report covering estimated permit requirements for a given business type and location, delivered to your email.
  • Subscription plans (coming soon): Ongoing permit tracking, deadline alerts, and regulatory monitoring. Subscription terms will be updated here when available.

3. Informational use only — not legal advice

All reports and content generated by PermitPilot are for informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal advice, legal opinions, or a substitute for consultation with a licensed attorney or government official.

Permit and licensing requirements change frequently and vary significantly by jurisdiction, business type, and individual circumstances. PermitPilot makes no guarantee that its reports are complete, current, or accurate for your specific situation.

You are solely responsible for verifying all permit requirements with the relevant government agencies and for ensuring your business complies with all applicable laws.

4. Payment and refunds

One-time reports are priced at $9.99 USD. Payment is processed securely by Stripe.

Delivery

Your report will be generated within approximately 60 seconds of payment confirmation and delivered to the email address you provided. You will also be able to view it immediately in your browser.

Refund policy

Because reports are generated instantly upon payment, we generally do not offer refunds once a report has been delivered. If you experience a technical failure that prevented delivery of your report, contact us at hello@startpermit.com within 7 days and we will make it right.

5. Account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use PermitPilot. By using the service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

You are responsible for providing accurate information when requesting a report. Inaccurate inputs will result in inaccurate outputs, and we are not liable for reports generated based on information you provided.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense reports without our written consent
  • Use PermitPilot to provide legal services to third parties without appropriate licensing
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or circumvent any part of the service
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable law

7. Intellectual property

The PermitPilot platform, including its software, design, and underlying systems, is owned by Laniakea Technologies LLC. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the platform.

Reports generated for you are licensed for your personal or internal business use. You may share your report internally within your organization but may not sell or publicly republish it without our consent.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that reports are accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your specific legal situation. Permit requirements vary by jurisdiction and change frequently.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Laniakea Technologies LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of PermitPilot, including but not limited to fines, penalties, or legal costs resulting from reliance on our reports. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of PermitPilot shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, rather than in court. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

10. Modifications to the service or terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of PermitPilot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you disagree with any changes, stop using the service.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to PermitPilot at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. Sections covering disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive any termination.
